Description:  PureTerra Ventures Fund I is a target €80m VC fund investing series A & B equity in 12-16 water technology businesses across three target sectors: industrial water, agricultural water, and residential / municipal water. PureTerra’s deals are sourced globally, with a focus on leading innovation hubs in Europe, Israel, and North America.

Why We Invest: Water technology is underinvested and PureTerra is one of the few water tech venture funds. Water is fundamental to all life. However, increasing pollution coupled with steeply rising and unevenly spread demand for freshwater is driving water crises both at local and global levels and in high-income countries as well as emerging markets. The increasing contamination of drinking water by pesticides, hormones, and pharmaceuticals is leading to public health issues. In the U.S. and Europe, 60-70% of rivers and lakes are highly polluted. At the same time as people suffer from water shortages, 25-30% of water is lost globally through leaks. Aging infrastructure is a compounding factor that will further drive demand. Adapting to climate change requires improving our ability to manage both the quality and the quantity of the world’s water, from Flint, Michigan to Cape Town, South Africa and everywhere in between.
